A value proposition is a summary of why a hiring manager should hire you over the rest of the competition. Targeted toward recruiting firms or specific positions—a short, powerful letter that gets read because it quickly establishes your credibility and value in the role you are seeking. You have five or ten seconds to make your first impression with the hiring manager or recruiter. In those crucial ten seconds, a ‘value proposition’ has more power to grab and hold the reader’s attention than anything else you can write. It clearly communicates in a few sentences why a manager should hire you instead of the other qualified candidates in the stack.
